Pasinaya 2010

Pasinaya 2010 was the first Pasinaya (arts festival) that LSDC-Contemporary ever joined. It was held last February 7, 2010 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Might I say that it was an awesome experience :) dancing the Tinikling for the first time under the scorching heat of the sun was worth it in the end. It was a fun experience plus we (LSDC-Contemporary) found new friends (Romancon)! Since we're all girls, we got paired up with our counterpart from Benilde, the St. Benilde Romancon Dance Company (who are by the way, amaaaaazing dancers) :)

First, we showcased a dance piece we practically already know by heart, ZAL:

Next, we participated in the Bonggang-bonggang Bamboo: The Tinikling Showdown with hundreds of other people. I think there were at least a thousand dancers doing the Tinikling! It was so embarrassing because we were in the middle, and most of us didn't even know how to dance it well! Oh well, at least I think we were able to pull it off. ;P

Lastly, we watched other shows :) we watched Romancon's, HTG's and PHSA's. Unfortunately, I only have photos from Romancon's since my camera's battery died after their show :(

Well that's it... that was my Pasinaya experience! Can't wait for next year :)

Think How Many Times You Like

The 23rd Dancelebration was a success! :) LSDC-Contemporary, we put on a great show and I'm so proud :) I love you guys! And congratulations to all the competing groups (especially the winners--Claret Hataw, UP Streetdance Club and CSB Romancon Dance Company) for a job well done. :) see you all again on the 24th Dancelebration? Yes yes? :)

Who knew fully booked tiring and stressful weekends would be so fun?

Can you easily spot me in the photos? :P I really loved performing this dance piece (it's called Zal [Jose Rizal]), even if it's a re-staged dance. I think the re-staged version is better than the original one (which we did during Rendezvous, our dance concert held last March 2009). :) will post a video as soon as I get hold of one!

Shoes: my high school graduation shoes. Wore them for the second time (after almost 2 years!) during this shoot. My feet died :( blisters everywhere. F.

This was kind of a fail shoot (Andro and I were supposed to be 50s dancers or something... but we know nothing about the dances in the 50s so we ended up just posing :-s) but I'm glad the shots came out nice :) thank you Nix! You still owe me donuts >:)

Can U Handle It?

Dancelebration, midterms, artsy fartsy shenanigans, Valentine's... February is here! This week's schedule's gonna be pretty tight since I'll be attending two events in the weekend (Dancelebration as an organizer/performer and Pasinaya as a performer). The rest of the month I can predict will be filled with photo shoots, video shoots, conceptualization, writing and research. The rest of the term (til April ;_;), actually. Comm Arts *_* can't complain much though coz I can't see myself taking up a different course (and Communication Arts is actually very very fun amidst all the stress) :)

Today was pretty tiring--had three photo shoots (2 of them I shot and 1 I modeled for [will post pictures next time :)]) and learned the Tinikling. My feet are throbbing :( dancing barefoot in the DLSU Central Plaza is torture! The ground's pebble-y (or whatever you call it) and my feet felt like they were gonna burst any minute! I'd take pointe shoes pain over this anytime :(

Btw, my video essay went great! Well not really great, great... but my professor said it was good for a first-timer, so I'm satisfied :) I'm pretty sure now though that I'm not pursuing a career in tv/film directing! My video can be seen here. Might post it on Youtube soon so just watch out for the link!
